It was developed by the Austrian Society for General and Family Medicine (ÖGAM) and the Austrian Diabetes Society (ÖDG) in cooperation with the umbrella association of Austrian social insurance companies.

What is the diabetes pass used for?

The diabetes pass is used to document and plan diabetic treatment. It contains important information about the current measured values ​​(eg blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure), examination results, treatment steps and control appointments. This enables a quick exchange of all information relevant to diabetes between the family doctor and specialists.

Note The pass is also used in the disease management program "Therapy Active - Diabetes under Control" of the Austrian social security.

When do I get the diabetes pass?

After the diagnosis of "diabetes", patients receive the diabetes pass from the treating doctor. You should always carry this important document with you so that optimal support is guaranteed even in an emergency.
