Rehabilitation in a hospital (inpatient rehabilitation) makes sense if the therapeutic goal cannot be achieved after exhausting all available outpatient treatment options. The aim of rehabilitation is to enable patients and their surroundings (school, job, leisure time) to better deal with neurodermatitis.
If medicinal and non-medicinal procedures do not lead to a satisfactory treatment result, a stay at a spa can help. There are several spa centers for neurodermatitis in Austria; you can find them using the Rehabilitation Compass. Spa stays on the Adriatic or the Dead Sea can also have beneficial effects.
How are the costs going to be covered?
In order to get inpatient rehabilitation or a stay at a health resort approved by health insurance or pension insurance, you must submit an application. The form required for this is also available from doctors who specialize in skin and venereal diseases. You can find detailed information on how to apply under Submitting an application made easy. If the rehabilitation or the cure is approved, the social insurance agency will cover a large part of the costs. The patient pays a deductible depending on the income. In principle, a cure is approved a maximum of twice within five years.
