Ayurveda - Maharishi Vedic Medicine

Vedic medicine is one of the oldest health systems and has its origins in India. Substantial parts of this health system, also known as the “mother of medicine”, have been lost over the millennia. The most well-known aspect in the West is called Ayurveda. Meanwhile, "Ayurveda" has become a fashion trend in Europe and the USA. It is therefore all the more important to pay attention to the medical quality and the traditional holistic approach of Ayurvedic medicine.

How does the method work?

In general, there are four levels of health:

  • Environment

    - the immediate environment: social, private and work environment, living and work situation, social environment;

    - distant environment up to global and cosmic influences;

  • body
  • ghost

Diagnostic and therapeutic methods of Ayurvedic medicine

The first step is to take a detailed Ayurvedic and conventional medical history. Pulse diagnosis serves as the central diagnostic tool in Maharishi Ayurveda. Together with the results of conventional medical diagnostics, the Ayurveda doctor derives the appropriate therapy, which is individually tailored to the patient's health and life situation.

The goal of Ayurvedic medicine is holistic health, the way there is consciousness development. The tools used are yoga, transcendental meditation, nutritional recommendations, herbal recipes, teas, herbal oils, aromatherapy, music therapy, primal sound therapy and cleansing treatments (Panchakarma).

What areas of application are there?

The representatives of Ayurveda see their main focus in the following areas:

  • Prevention,
  • Mood disorders
  • Psychosomatics,
  • Stress sequelae,
  • chronic diseases (including the musculoskeletal system, digestive organs and brain & nerves).

Is there any scientific evidence?

Ayurveda is based on experience. In order to be able to scientifically prove the effectiveness of Ayurveda applications, meaningful, clinical studies would be required.

How are the costs going to be covered?

The costs for complementary medical treatment are usually not covered by the health insurance carriers and in a few cases with the approval of the chief physician. In the spa and rehabilitation sector, at least partial cost coverage is provided for individual services. In any case, it is worth checking with the responsible health insurance company.
