Tips for dealing with the current situation in the corona crisis

The Center for Public Health at the Medical University of Vienna has compiled a text for dealing with the current situation based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Here are a brief overview of the tips with additional practical information:

  • Try to stick to a daily routine as much as possible.

  • Maintain a lifestyle that is as healthy as possible with activities that you enjoy and help you relax.

  • Stick to sleep routines. For more information, see Sleep well.

Quarantine, isolation at home and other circumstances associated with the crisis represent an exceptional situation. Here you will find a collection of current information material tailored to the crisis that can help you to cope with it as far as possible:

  • The Austrian Federal Association for Psychotherapy provides tips for coping with everyday life at home at www.oesterreich.gv.at. There are also information sheets with tailor-made advice for singles, couples and families.   • The Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP) has created an information sheet on quarantine and domestic isolation in its information on the coronavirus (Covid-19).   • Telephone counseling: Call 142. People in a difficult life situation or crisis can have a confidential conversation with competent contact persons around the clock. E-mail and chat advice at www.telefonseelsorge.at.
  • Ö3 Red Cross number : 116 123 for all worries from 4 p.m. to midnight.
  • Child emergency number: 0800 567 567. Telephone advice for children who need help. A contact point for people in a conflict or crisis situation - anonymously and available around the clock.
  • Psychotherapeutic hotlines of the Austrian Federal Association for Psychotherapy (ÖBVP): You can find them at www.psychotherapie.at and www.oesterreich.gv.at.
  • Helpline of the Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP): 01/504 8000. The BÖP helpline is currently available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
